Great moments are born from great opportunity.  The bipartisan passage of the “Every Student Succeeds Act” (S.1177) and signature by the POTUS, resulted in the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).

The “Every Student Succeeds Act”, which NAfME has been lobbying in support of, for the better part of the past year, includes a critical stand-alone listing for music, in the legislation’s all-important new definition of a “Well-Rounded Education” (previously known as “Core Academic Subjects”).

While we celebrate this incredible success, we look to the future and next steps.  Passing this law with music listed as a stand-alone subject simply kicks open the door of opportunity to a daunting new world of regulatory lobbying and state and local level implementation challenges.

Advocacy strength is exhibited in number of voices.  We are asking you to join today, so we may provide you with training and resources enabling you to become an advocate as the “Every Student Succeeds Act” is interpreted state-wide and locally.  Help us make music accessible by all.

NAfME membership offers a wealth of professional benefits including access to valuable networking, information, and educational offerings.  Active NAfME membership includes membership to your state Music Education Association providing you local engagement and competitive opportunities for your students.  Access the features below to learn more about individual benefits of joining NAfME.  Thanks for your consideration in helping us advance the cause of furthering music education.
